Our Working With At Risk Young People workshop is a comprehensive and engaging workshop for professionals such as teachers and social workers who are working with young people, particularly those who are marginalised, leaving care and/or at risk of social exclusion.

Guided by our extensive 10+ years of long-term work with marginalised young people at The Big House, this interactive workshop focuses on the communication skills, empathy, methods and safeguarding needed to support, encourage and bring out the best in the students or young people the participants are working with. Through an immersive, facilitated discussion with our young people which amplifies their voices, lived experiences and insights, workshop participants will gain a unique and deep insight into what worked, what didn’t work and the long-term impact the right support can make to a young person’s life – their mental health, ambitions and overall wellbeing.

It is those stories that will stay with these new social workers, and might just make the difference in whether or not they remember to go that extra mile to remain non-judgmental, empathetic and optimistic for the young people that they work with…it was the most powerful part of the summer institute learning so far!
