PLAY YOUR PART

The Big House was founded to break the cycle of disadvantage that care leavers find themselves trapped in. We use drama and individualised long-term support to help them address fundamental emotional issues, build self-confidence and develop the life skills needed to move forward with their lives.

To do this, we rely on the generosity of our supporters, who play their part in keeping The Big House doors open. There are several ways in which you can support us.

INDIVIDUAL GIVING

Play Your Part with
a regular gift

With your regular gift, you’ll enable The Big House to continue providing long-term support and mentorship to marginalised young people. Many of our members may not have had access to consistent and positive role models, and we have found that consistency and the provision of a nurturing environment is the most valuable thing we can offer. A place that they can return to in times of need.

After our programmes, and a year of intensive pastoral and practical support, our doors always remain open, with members still coming back to see us years after their project ends. Whether they go on to be stars of stage and screen, or lawyers, teachers, social workers or entrepreneurs, you can play your part in their future and help us to sustain ours.

We have a range of options which come with discounted tickets and exclusive access to our events. Browse through our options here and click on the donate button below to set up your regular giving.

TRUSTS & FOUNDATIONS

The Big House is all about transformational change

Whether that’s supporting our young people from the margins of society to centre stage or shaking up and diversifying the creative industries from the inside, telling stories that need to be told.

We couldn’t do our important work without the generous support of the Trusts and Foundations that believe in our mission.

If you represent a Trust or Foundation that is interested in supporting The Big House, please get in touch with our Fundraising Officer, Zoe McGhee, on [email protected]

OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a way of giving money to charity, minus the tax! If your company would like to set this up via PAYE or you’d like to donate to us through your pension, you can find more information below.

You can also nominate us as your Charity Of The Year!

Fundraise For Us

Our supporters and fundraisers are invaluable to The Big House. If you would like to fundraise for us, we’d love to support you and work together to reach your goal. Some of our inspirational supporters have run marathons, climbed mountains and even shaved their heads!

Please get in touch on [email protected] for fundraising ideas and anything else we can do to support you.

Legacy Giving

Another way to support us is to remember The Big House in your Will. By leaving a gift to us as a registered charity, you won’t pay inheritance tax on the amount of your gift. So while you’ll be helping The Big House transform the lives of marginalised young people, your legacy gift could also reduce the inheritance tax on your estate.

For more details on leaving legacies, please speak to your legal advisor. You can also find more information at hmrc.gov.uk/inheritancetax.

Your legacy gift will play a vital role in enabling us to continue providing long-term support for care-experienced and otherwise at-risk young people to build the skills, self-esteem and resilience they need to unlock their potential.

You can support us with a fixed legacy gift or a share of your estate, even 1% would make a difference. We’ll always talk to you about how you would like your generous gift to be recognised.

BOOK OUR WORKSHOPS

Transformational Training
for your Organisation

Our unique and immersive workshops are a million miles away from tired and traditional training formats. Through The Big House Means Business, we employ exceptional young people that have experience of the care system, or are at high risk of social exclusion, and have successfully been through our Open House Project. We harness the learning of our members to expand the perspective of your teams and encourage trust, collaboration and effective working.

The income generated from these workshops goes directly towards paying our young people for their time and keeping The Big House alive. So by booking a workshop with us, you’ll be investing in their future and in ours.

This work has taken us to countless organisations across the country and abroad. Our young people have trained 12,000 social workers, The Met Police, the Ministry of Justice, the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office and the Department for Work and Pensions, amongst many others.

There is so much to learn from the voices and performances of these extraordinary young people who have gone from the margins of society to centre stage. Using our unique toolkit of live performances, original films, powerful discussions and drama exercises, we offer a range of workshops with lasting impact.
