Know an amazing young person with care experience?
The Big House empowers care-experienced and at-risk young people (16-25) through performance, creative workshops, life-skills development, mentoring, and long-term pastoral support. They don’t need to have any past theatre experience – the focus is on their story, creativity and potential.
If you’re connected to someone that would be a good fit for The Big House, we’d love for them to join one of our Spring or Autumn programmes. You can refer a young person by clicking the link below, but if you have more questions, feel free to drop Beth an an email at [email protected].
WHAT'S ON
The best thing about The Big House is that there’s always something going on. Here are our key projects:
Drop-In Sessions: Every Thursday 6-9pm, members and potential members can come to our Islington-based venue for some drama games + performance exercises.
Monthly Supper Club: Where members share a home-cooked meal alongside mentors from the creative industries.
The Get In: A four-week series of workshops focused on building memberships, mentoring, pastoral-care, and drama games.
Open House Projects: A twelve-week theatre and life-skills programme designed for personal growth and professional preparation (18+, aimed at those NEET).
The Big Mouth: Our original content, co-created between members and The Big House Team.
Hot House: Engaged and industry-ready members may be invited along to a workshop delivered by an expert on anything from writing to accent training, in order to enhance their EET opportunities and open new pathways into the industry.

The Big House is a London-based theatre charity that empowers care-experienced and at-risk young people (16–25) through performance, creative workshops, life-skills development, mentoring, and long-term pastoral support. We help our members build confidence, resilience, and employability while exploring opportunities in the arts and beyond.
Our programmes combine theatre practice with practical skills (teamwork, communication, time-keeping, CV writing, rehearsal discipline, and performance techniques) to support transitions into education, training or work. Intensive projects like the Open House Project run lifeskill and creative workshops in tandem, culminating in shows that boost confidence and real-world readiness.
Yes! After completing a project, they can remain a member of The Big House community with access to career support, mentoring, networking, social events, and advanced creative opportunities for years to come (which has included everything from acting roles on Top Boy to jobs in Netflix’s costume department).
