Bullet Tongue Reloaded is a hard-hitting, powerful and authentic show centred around ‘gang culture’ and County Lines. Vulnerable children and young people who face adverse childhood experiences, or are in care, are often purposely selected and groomed into trafficking drugs by individuals and criminal organisations with the promise of friendship, status and money. They play on their innate desire to belong. Once trapped, they are often controlled through threats, sexual abuse and violence, leaving them living in fear and exposed to great trauma.
Using immersive theatre, The Big House leads its audience into the emotive and thought-provoking world of young people who are often talked about but often go unheard. Bullet Tongue Reloaded provides the opportunity for the audience to gain a better understanding of these young people’s experiences and perspectives, whilst amplifying the need to look at issues like gang violence as part of our wider society and understand that it isn’t an isolated issue. The performance demonstrates how our lives run parallel to these young people, as we all strive for love, acceptance, belonging and purpose.
What can I say? WOW – that performance absolutely blew me away…I’m so impressed not only with their amazing acting skills, but also in just how articulate and wise their responses were in the Q&A – they managed to condense so much of what we are trying to teach into a few sentences within every response….it surpassed every expectation I had (and I had high expectations) – it was immensely powerful and delivered with true conviction, authenticity and talent.
