PHOENIX

You can’t help her. You can’t catch her, so quick are her feet.

You can’t control Latitia. You can’t help her. You can’t catch her, so quick are her feet. Sixteen and straight out of care, she’s heading to rock-bottom unless something, or someone, can break her fall. When the worst thing that could possibly happen happens, then she takes her first step towards something good.

Written by Andrew Day, inspired by the lives and the words of the cast, this drama draws out the raw and bitter truth and the hard road to a hopeful future.

“I’ve seen quite a lot of this sort of work with young people, but rarely anything so passionately or so brilliantly acted, and even more rarely so beautifully staged.”
Michael Coveney, Whatsonstage

“Phoenix is theatre without pose or pretension, just passion, and it’s extremely exciting for it. Tackling real issues with honesty and humour, this is the perfect antidote to West End seasonal fluff, an excellent example of what London Fringe theatre is all about and the best reason to spend 90 minutes in a warehouse that I can think of.”
★★★★★ Broadway Baby

“Raging with fierce vehemence, and with a glorious performance from Jasmine Jobson as Latitia, Phoenix unveils the bitter, marginalised world of a disposed youth and its grim struggle to a promising future.”
★★★★ The Upcoming

“(Phoenix) sizzles with energy …this is a pulsating, angry show that should make us angry, too, about the way we let down those who most deserve our care.”
