2020 has been a year like no other for us all. At The Big House, we’ve responded to the challenges of the pandemic by continuing to provide our brilliant young people with opportunities that create meaningful change in their lives.
We are so incredibly proud that over the course of the past nine months we have adapted to meet this new reality. We’ve produced a short film, offered two eight-week virtual courses in directing and writing, connected our members with counselling and pastoral support, commissioned five of our young people to co-create a new play in collaboration with the brilliant Vivienne Franzmann and supported our young people to win roles in television series produced by Netflix and Sky Atlantic. And, last week, we opened a brand new play, with a cast of 19, produced as a socially-distanced promenade performance!
However, in response to the recent government public health guidance, The Big House building will be closing for the month of November. Staff will be working remotely and providing support to our members across the lockdown. As ever, we are looking ahead to the coming months and developing plans to create exciting work. Never before has the work that we do felt more necessary.
The Ballad of Corona V has already received such an incredible response from audiences. Our plan is to reopen and continue the run in early December. There are tickets available to buy here. Ticket-holders will receive a new date for their booking in December, also transferable to another date if necessary. If you have any issue with your new date or would like a refund, please contact Sarah on [email protected] and quote your booking reference number. We look forward to getting back into the building when it is safe to do so.
In the meantime, stay safe and well.
