Welcome to The Big Mouth, the place where The Big House’s digital content lives. It’s still early days and this is just the start of some big things to come. Take a look below at what we have for you right now.
FEATURED CONTENT: THE BIG UP
Do you sometimes wonder why you can’t see yourself represented in history books?
Time to watch The Big Up! Our members got busy researching and recovering forgotten role models from a bunch of archives around the country.
The Big Up was conceptualised as a virtual exhibit when our members found that educators and young people alike, had a lack of diverse historical characters to draw from when authentically telling the history of minority presence in Britain. This project aimed to connect young people to their heritage by making it accessible and enjoyable.
The Big Up was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. In 2024, The Big Up won two Lovie Awards: a Silver Lovie and the People’s Choice Lovie for Best Film & Video (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) at the 14th Annual Lovie Awards which recognize the best digital work across Europe. The Big Up, designed to use artistic intervention to bridge the gap in historical resources, tells stories of global majority figures in the UK who have been written out of mainstream history. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS
ORIGINAL DIGITAL CONTENT
Our members are powerhouses in front of the camera, as well as on the stage! Here’s where you can view digital content directed, written, acted, or hosted by our members. There’s everything here: the iPhone-first Social Media Sagas, Nene’s hilarious Bellyful Kitchen (which would give Mob Kitchen a run for its money), spoken word series Wordsong, and original short films like Under The Blanket.
