WE ARE BUILDING A HOME FOR OUR PIONEERING CREATIVE PROJECTS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE
The Big House has a simple mission: to enable care leavers and at risk young people to fulfil their potential.
The young people at the core of The Big House want to lead lives that matter. They want to count, to make a contribution, to earn recognition for who they are and what they can do.
Using drama, combined with life skills workshops, counselling, peer to peer support and long term mentoring, we build the confidence of our young people to such an extent that anything is possible.
OUR NEW HOME
Just off the Essex Road, on the border of Islington and Hackney, is an old frame factory that we are renovating from September 2018. Designed by award-winning practice Lipton Plant Architects, our vision is to create a first class youth facility for marginalised young people that will have multiple performance, rehearsal, community and office spaces – a place where the young people we work with will feel supported and inspired and can learn new skills.
“After getting the chance to see the new building my brain was exploding!! I was overwhelmed with the thought of what we could do with that magnificent space. I really could imagine the work we could do and the amount of people we could get through to.”

WE NEED YOUR HELP
A kitchen is at the heart of any home – it’s where people come together to eat, talk and support one another. We need to raise £20,000 so we can install a kitchen and run projects that bring our members together to cook, meet new people and benefit from the connection and comfort of sharing food with family and friends.
Please donate now – the more pledges we receive the closer we get to unlocking additional funding from the Mayor of London. Every donation, big or small, will help us to change the lives of many more of London’s most isolated and marginalised young people.DONATE VIA PAYPAL
“The young people we work with want to pursue larger lives, fuelled by an expanding sense of possibility and purpose. Our new home will give us the space to explore those possibilities reaching hundreds more young people every year.”
